I love  the power of social media. It has absolutely changed the world. It has enabled many people to connect with their loved ones from far and beyond. The world has been connected.  That is how powerful social media has been.  Have i  mentioned how i got a speaking engagement  because someone noticed my presence of what i am doing  on social media? I was very grateful!

Despite the fact that social media has brought a lot to our lives. If you are not careful and grounded in who you are, you  can easily get caught up to the lives of other people especially as they flood our screens with images of perfectionism, success and without flaws. It’s easy to compare yourself against other people. The grass is always green on the other side of the fence. but what we dont realize is that these people have their bad days too.

When you compete against other people, you judge yourself based on their values and metrics. The problem with this is even if you win, you only do something that’s important to them, not you. There is nothing wrong of you to look up to people, i personal think that if you do that with a positive intention it can make you strive to your greatest heights. However, its important you learn what brought them that far. what failures did they encounter. How did they had to do or even not  do for them to be where they are. Don’t focus only on the glory. Get to know their stories too.

Most people on social media their life is fake and curated. You see a perfect life that’s perfectly edited. You see only the best of people. You’re comparing yourself (sometimes at) your worst to their best.
I think everyone knows this, but not everyone understands it on a deep level.

A lot of people in life feel pressured by social media. Whether they feel like they need to have the perfect feed, the perfect life, a certain amount of followers or likes, it doesn’t really matter. Don’t delete a photo if it doesn’t get any likes. Your self-worth is not tied to your social media numbers and account.

This is your reminder for you to engage with people in real life and to feel great about living your life without worrying what you see on a screen.  Its important you realize that happiness is a choice. whether with one million likes or one like.
It’s human nature to compare ourselves to others to learn about societal expectations, but it can very easily feed low-self esteem or cause anxiety.

Do you feel the pressure of curating your social media accounts or are you and comparing yourself to others on Instagram? Let me know, and thank you for indulging in this.
